hairspray: eshakti dress review

lately, i've been catching up on movies i missed (yay netflix!) and saw "hairspray".. ok half of it. my mom life means i get to watch things over the course of a week. the wardrobe was just wonderful and i could picture some of these outfits even today. whether it was the fit and flare style brittany snow's character wore, or the sleek sheaths michelle pfeiffer wore, these silhouettes still hold their own. this just how this aesthetic is timeless.

Eshakti very kindly offered me a dress from their site, and the retro style colorblock dress was my pick. their prices are really reasonable, always a good thing. i did not want a sleeveless dress, so i added a cap sleeve. i also did not do the customized sizing, even though that is their speciality. honestly, i can't be relied on for good measurements. i picked my size from their general sizing guide and added my height for custom length. the sizing guide was pretty accurate. the dress is cotton with no lining. i'm sure if i put a slip on, the chest area won't drop in the way it does right now. i think it's more a lack of a bust from my part than the dress itself.  it is cotton, which i picked purposefully. shipping to canada was quick too, and it was carefully packaged. i love that it has pockets!

outfit - dress: thanks to Eshakti; necklace: spike the punch, here; cardigan: ann taylor, old; belt, similar here: jacob, old; shoes: christian louboutin batik pumps.
