poncho

this marks my last day of freedom before i go back to work. i've been really enjoying spending time with my family and am soaking in this "relaxing" concept. i only had to deal with a few work things this week, but for the most part, it's been about recharging this week.

i wrote some time ago that i became obsessed with a vince poncho after having seen it so casually but beautifully styled by olivia palermo. when i think poncho, i think of the ones my mom knitted for us with the tassels and pom poms when i was younger. but, like everything that has been around, this is the modern take but it evokes the same cozy feeling. my friend J and i both agreed it was a fantastic and versatile piece. she thought of styling it with a black skirt and i leaned towards a casual look. i will definitely try the sleek chic that J suggested - this piece can definitely be pulled off in this manner. i was thrilled to have found it on sale at 40% off, which is amazing for vince. hubby didn't quite get it but i didn't think he would!

  1. I have a navy poncho whichI love, it's so comfy and perfect for fat days, of course when I told hubs about my new poncho, a look of dread came upon him - I think they must have imagined us looking like Clint!

I love that silvery grey colour.

    1. thank you CNCL!! i think bc i'm feeling so out of shape these last few months, i'm gravitating towards this shape. i'm being healthier though, so i don't fill out the poncho.

  8. Love the idea of a poncho. I got a khaki one a while back, but it looked a little childish on me. A knit one seems to make more sense for my lifestyle.

    1. thank you Kerry!! you are right - it does add bulk but thankfully this knit isn't thick and chunky. i think it would have gone straight back to the store if it was.

    1. i had been bouncing this around too, as i know the adage that something looking good on a person may not always work for your own frame. it was a gamble though especially with something this boxy. but the top isn't huge, just big enough! hope you get something like this - it would be perfect with your laid back, classy style!

  16. I think there's a certain way to wear oversized items that looks good... versus the "Oh, you'll grow in this jacket" phase that we had when we were kids. I really like the camo here. I think it can look out of place, but I would even wear it like this.

    1. thank you so much!! oversized clothing does pose challenges, so i was relieved that this fit as nicely as it did!

  17. I LOVE it. LOVE it. I have a poncho from H&M (hey, sometimes they make great things!) from like 3 years ago that comes into my winter wardrobe religiously every year. It is the best thing ever to wear over black leggings with tall boots. I feel like I can hide anything under there (i.e., I can eat all I want, etc) hehe
