coloured denim for petites - J Brand vs Citizens of Humanity

Coloured denim - i held out as long as i could because i figured it was a fad that wouldn't last. Lo and behold, it goes on strong, and i'm now thoroughly in love with them.

The Citizens of Humanity Thompson skinny jeans (on sale here and here) are described on the website as having an 8.5" rise and 29" inseam. This means for tall people - these are capris. My bestie got these and had to return them because they were SO short on her.  In fairness, she's a gorgeous.5ft8.glamazon and i blame her for my obsession with coloured denim. heck for a lot of my obsessions. LOL. For the petite lady - they are perfect!

I got these in ultra blue and loved it so much i bought the purple (the purple shade is called poison.. don't know why they called it that. i don't think of poison as being purple but i digress.. it's purple. me love purple.)

The 29" inseam is perfect for flats and they are fitted enough that you can put them comfortably in boots without smooshing in 7,389,498 inches of fabric around the legs/ankles.

Next up is the J Brand 811 Mid-rise Twill pants - which have an approximate 11" leg opening and 29" inseam.  This colour is called black cherry and it is a darker red - not too burgundy like what you'd imagine black cherry to be, but it is definitely not a bright bright red.  The pictures are pretty representative of the colour in real life. Comparing the fit, both are the same lengthwise (P is happy). The CoH are tighter along the leg but not scandalously so. Both materials are excellent but I have to say that the J Brands are SO SOFT! I am seriously trying not to be a weirdo rubbing my pants all the time, but this twill is beautiful to the touch.

Verdict: both brands are great buys. I strongly recommend both, as they fit so well! the colours they come in are fantastic too. J Brand has many more choices in the colour spectrum though. (also on sale here)

Ann Taylor Petite Pants - J Crew Boy Cut Shirt : review

Happy New Year!!! Here's to a 2012 filled with happiness, love, success and pretty little things (preferably on sale, but it doesn't always have to be.. lol.) Work, the holidays and the rest of it all has caused me to be mucho delinquent with this blog. New Year's resolution: maintain the weekly blog updates!

The first post this year is a review on petite dress pants. I am always frustrated buying dress pants for work. Regular sized pants leave at least 4 inches or more to have to get hemmed off, and the risk is you lose the lines of the pants that way. Petite sized pants may be too short.

Around November, I got a pair of petite Ann Taylor modern cut pants when they went on sale. I got a 2P (I'm usually a 0 or 2P in AT bottoms; and 0P in AT dresses) and the description on the website said 30 inch inseam, which is just a smidge longer than my ankle length inseam of 29 inches. Verdict? A good buy on sale (and free shipping)

The pants are really well made, and lined. The cut is okay-ish for the hips with the modern cut and the length is good for a low heel (I am wearing a pair of Louboutin leopard marcia balla with a 45 mm heel) A 85 mm heel is as high as I would go with these too. Anything higher doesn't look right with the hem.

The J Crew Boy Cut shirt phenom blew up this Fall/Winter and has moved into Spring/Summer. I got the version that was 100% silk in the Crepe de Chine - One thing about me is I cannot resist a striped shirt. I got it in a 0, my usual J Crew top size.  The sleeves are not too long for me, and the body is pretty boxy, but the flowy, soft fabric compensates for that.

Decided to do a 1 blouse - 3 ways photoshoot today just to play around with the blouse. Photography courtesy my darling hubby.
