i wrote some time ago that annually, i have this ritual where i try to find a pair of boots that will be work appropriate and also wearable for the weekend. my issue is that most of the boot shafts are too big for my legs. for the most part, it looks like i'm wearing firefighter boots. it has gotten to the point that of all the things to shop for in the world, i will absolutely avoid boot shopping.
the stuart weitzman 50/50 boot is really cool and its stretchy back is perfect for smaller calves. however, it is an over the knee boot and very inappropriate for the office. i would not wear it enough on the weekends to justify the price tag. when i was in DC, i spotted these stuart weitzman mezzamezza. i saw them again at holt renfrew when they had their GC promotion. they are just like the 50/50 except under the knee. i went down half a size from my US size, and took the 7. they'll be great with skirts, and skinny jeans. have a great weekend!

How funny…I have a pair of 50/50s arriving today! I doubt they will work out for me because of the reasons you mentioned, but also because I don't have small calves or knees. I'll definitely keep these in mind - I had seen the Arlington boot before (less stretch) but not the Mezzamezza.
ReplyDeleteI love the boots on you and they look great with the skirt!
i love your 50/50s!! i also should have mentionned i can't wear those because they are also too long for me! :P
Deleteyou are rocking those 50/50! xox

hi ashley! nice to meet you!! boots shopping is the worst! xox
DeleteYour outfit is lovely.
ReplyDeleteI also have a hard time with boots. My calves are frequently too wide for regular shafts, but too narrow for wide or extended shafts. I've found Ariat boots to work best for me. Their boots are really nice and prices are decent, I just wish their "fashion" section was larger.
thank you! i hope you find your boots too! xox
DeleteThis exactly what I need for the winter. May I ask how much were they in Holt's?
ReplyDeleteI also found the SW boot to be some of the very few that have skinny calves. I got a pair of suede ones years ago but I can't wear those when I travel because they get dirty so quickly.
they were the same price at holts as they were in the US - 650$. i was really pleased to see the same price on both sides of the border. xox
Deletecool boots.
ReplyDeletethank you P!
DeleteI have the EXACT same problem with boots, but add in that most boots that are supposed to hit under the knee actually hit me on my knee because my legs are so short! Finding perfect fitting boots is nearly impossible for me. I've been on a mission for many, many years. Those boots looks fabulous on you! I'm definitely going to try them on! I really love that sweater paired with that great skirt too!
