it is so interesting how certain retro styles make their comebacks. i love how fashion returns for another hurrah in different ways. the peter pan collar is one of those retro styles that keeps going. according to wikipedia, it is "named after the costume worn in 1905 by actress maude adams in her role as peter pan, and particularly associated with little girls' dresses". seems like this little collar has had quite a few revivals, hasn't it? i recently bought a detachable beaded peter pan collar from a lovely seller on etsy, becoming the second piece of a peter pan accessory that i have (i posted a tobi necklace here). i am eagerly waiting its arrival. it's another way to wear a trend without committing to it on a piece.
what do you think of the peter pan collar?
this sweater is from simons, a canadian retailer, is sold out on the site but is called "retro tompe-l'oeil sweater" the site seems to stock with new items (and sell out of other items) quickly. the e-comm site is really user friendly and their sizing guide accurate. free shipping for purchases over $50 and free returns.
outfit - sweater, simons, sold out but similar here at j crew and here on the simons site; skirt: H&M, here; trench: H&M, similar here; shoes: christian louboutin new decoltissimo

Very cute Peter Pan sweater! Love the back buttons! Got to check it out at Simons. I love that store.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I'm loving their site and I had to do a return on a skirt that didn't fit and it was painless. Would definitely buy there again.

DeleteWow, such a beautiful outfit with so many great details! That sweater is fabulous! So pretty! I love the peter pan collar. I just recently bought a detachable collar and actually love wearing it. So true that it's a great way to test out a trend but not commit to buying a full sweater or shirt.

DeleteI love collars - oxfords, Peter pan, I love them all.
ReplyDeleteooh oxford collars!!!!
DeleteI'm a fan of the look and happy to see it coming back.
ReplyDeleteLove your feminine take on the look, as always; that sweater detail, with the buttons down the back and contrast piping, is terrific. I just have one peter pan trompe l'oeil collar on a vintage Marc Jacobs shirt, and I like to pair it with cuffed jeans to tough it up a bit.
thank you melissa!! this is quite a versatile sweater. i can't wait to try it with different things.
DeleteI think it is a sweet look. Love it with the lace skirt too. I have the collar on one dotted top, but I do love the beaded collars and necklaces. I didn't think Mr. would like it but he does and said he just doesn't like it when I put the boys in peter pan shirts. Oh well :)
ReplyDeletethank you Amy! ah, boys!! :)
DeleteLove this look with the lace detailing in the skirt and the Peter Pan collar! Love!!
