the changes to the blog are done - i hope you like the new look! i have also updated my contacts like instagram, twitter, pinterest, facebook, and bloglovin': hope to see you there too!
so, dear readers, i am wearing a wool coat in august. my friend J was considering this zara coat which sold out online once already. i described to her the fit, quality and sizing so she could consider whether to get it. the e-comm site now has them re-stocked. it's hard to see what something looks online (ie. on a super tall skinny model in stylized pictures), so i donned this coat on early in the morn when there was a nice breeze so i could do a sizing review on it.
first things first. this coat is all shades of awesomesauce. it is so jackie O in cut and structure but the sleeves detailing takes it to a unique level. it's a wool mix, so it will be a great fall coat. the coat is lined. that's a big bonus. such a pet peeve of mine when coats aren't lined. importantly, it is also petite friendly - hitting me right above the knees, i can be prim and proper for work with heels or wear it casually as well with flats. i'm wearing the S here. the XS fit me but i was only wearing a blouse. if i want to layer in the fall, i had to size up.

Oh I love this one ! Thank you for a good review. The sleeves i think will be way too long for me because I am a lot shorter than you. This is def something to think about, pretty. Also, i like your new blog look.

thank you sam!! i think the jacket sleeves are something that could be hemmed - worth checking out if it is possible? xox P
DeleteOh my goodness. I died when I saw your coat. It's so lady like with such a cool unexpected edge. It looks so fab on you!
ReplyDeleteIn your experience, how has the quality been for Zara coats? I was eyeing the red coat online but had to stop myself b/c I have this weird obsessino with wool coats. I told my hubby I'll refrain from buying one this season...but we'll have to see. hee hee.
I totally know what you mean. It's a pet peeve of mine when my coats and even skirts are not lined. :(
thank you phoebe!! i have 1 zara coat and about 7 million blazers. my coat is (was) about 5 years old but i held onto it for just about 1 year too long. i just couldn't get rid of it. definitely check the material, though. i picked this one because it has wool. can't wait to see what you get!! xox P
DeleteOMG, I can not stop looking at the amazing outfits, shoes and the clutch.

DeleteHi!
ReplyDeleteFirst time poster, long time lurker!
I loved this coat and tried it on in store, but was concerned that it didn't have any sort of closure other than at the neck! Living in Canada, I need my coats to do up! Do you foresee any problems, or are you thinking this is more of a fall coat rather than a full on winter coat?
Thanks!

DeleteOoops, the one I deleted got published under my daughter's forum handle/google name..I'm just a "little" unseemly...
DeleteWhat "Lola" would like to say is...
I meant to add - I LOVE your style and look forward to your outfits. I found you through TPF.
hi Lola!! i am so glad you posted!! and hello to a fellow canadian!! it's so great to meet you!
Deletei am going to use this as a fall/spring coat. i think the fact it doesn't close would be a really bad thing for our blistering winters.. unless of course i am going to an evening event and don't need a parka.
This coat is very interesting (in a good way). I ordered a coat from Zara last year but didn't have much luck. I will certainly try again this year. BTW, I love the new layout. So simple and fresh!
ReplyDeletethank you so much Sydney - and thank you for visiting my blog! your support means alot to me! xox P
DeleteThose dotted sleeves are TOO COOL! They look textural, are they raised or flat dots? Loving that clutch too! Ah, to live in your closet...
ReplyDeletethey`re textural, kinda raised 3-D, which is why i had to get them. they kinda sparkle!! i`m such a sucker for this kind of stuff!!
Deletei`d love to live in your closet too! xox P
Wow phiphi - I love it!

DeleteI adore this coat phiphi! I love wearing big heavy coats (as I am originally from New York) but sadly in Southern California I rarely get a chance to anymore!
ReplyDeleteI also love the clutch from Zara. It looks like a Louboutin creation!
doesn't it look like a perfect complement to the shoes? i really loved the red pop on the sides!
Deleteyour southern california weather is so awesome though!! think of the blizzards! freezing rain!! :P
WOW, I've been dying to get this coat. Fabulously styled by the way!
ReplyDeletethank you so much!! xox
DeleteI love the look this coat gives! I just bought two Womens Coats from Burlington Coat Factory that were very similar. I only planned to buy one, but I just fell in love with them and when I saw how amazing their deals were, I decided I might as well just buy both of them. The shoes go beautifully with it too. Where are they from?
ReplyDeletethe shoes are louboutin and the style is called minibout! thank you so much for coming by! xox
DeleteThat looks sooooo good on you. I saw in the store last week. So cute!

DeleteLOVE THIS LOOK! Who makes that gorgeous clutch you're toting? How warm is the coat?
ReplyDeleteLOVE this look! How warm is the coat? I've been mulling it over for months, and finally decided to add it to my work collection - is it warm with layers?
ReplyDeleteAlso, who makes that clutch you're toting? Love it!!!!
hi Amber! the clutch is from zara as well - i believe i linked it, but it could be that it's no longer available online. i wore it with layers and it was lovely for fall. enjoy the coat! it is so much fun! xox
DeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI'v been looking to order this coat!! Zara unfortunately does't have reviews on the website, so when I googled reviews on the jacket I came across your blog. It looks great!! I am around the same size (5/4), and have rather broad shoulders. Do you feel like the small is big enough to layer under?? (I was considering a M).. I am worried about ordering the wrong size! So happy to find your post and blog, hope to hear back!!
Jillian
hi Jillian! i feel the small can layer a blazer for work, but not a bulky sweater. i don't have broad shoulders though, and the S fits me just right. i hope this helps but don't hesitate to ask more questions! xox P
DeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteAlong the same lines as the previous comment, I was wondering if I would be suited for the S as well and thought I'd consult with you. I'm 5'2", 120 lb, and wear a S on top but M on the bottom. I was afraid the M would be too large for my stature. Thoughts?
~ tanya
i agree tanya - it is a long coat and i think the length of the M could be too long for our height. hope this helps! the coat flares out in any event so i think it would work with your figure. hope this helps! xox
