man aboard! part 1

happy father's day! on the occasion of the day that celebrates dads, this post is dedicated to my hubby, who as you know, is the photographer behind this blog... the guy who patiently takes pictures and tells me to stop slouching... we talked recently about doing things outside our comfort zones. he then said to me that it would be really cool if he "let" me style a few outfits for him.

hubby has a very specific look - rugged, outdoorsy & athletic. he's handsome but of course he's a boy and doesn't pay a lot of attention to clothes (other than the ones he doesn't like) he suits up, as required. he's also very particular and picky. if i shop for him, and get something he doesn't like, back it goes.

in his uniform: fitted long sleeved t-shirt and cargo shorts (substitute with jeans) with sandals.

so when he said this, i was speechless. (ok.. i may have been a bit hung up on the terminology "letting me" style him.. but let's pick our battles, P...) then i thought "carte blanche, eh?" this could be interesting. well, he's in for his man-over. i'm accepting this challenge, mister. bring it!!

part 1 was taking him out shopping. part 2 which i will post later this week, will be the P-styled outfits. do you have input as to what your spouse wears? should i have taken this challenge on?

i'm still chuckling at his reaction when he was watching me edit and crop his head: "did you just crop my head?"

(clothing: striped sweater, here; shorts, here; jeans, here; shoes, here; linen jacket, here; gingham shorts, here; fedora, here - ironically, i ended up buying a hat there for me)

(clothes - zara man: blazer, similar here; khaki chino shorts here; linen shorts here; sandals here)

  1. this looks like a lot of fun!! i cant wait to see more about what you two come up with. i try to help and go shopping with my boy here and there, but i actually am quite bad at "real life" shopping. it seems like it takes forever!! and then he goes back to his same jeans and tee anyways!!

  2. Your husband is a brave man for letting you style his clothes. Although I have to say you did a fantastic job. I really like your taste in men's fashion.

My husband would never openly admit to letting me have an opinion on how he dresses. But he asks me for my opinion before buying any big ticket items or work attire. I wish he'd let me buy him a few t-shirts though but I am forbidden from doing it. He keeps telling me I'm not to mess with his casual attire :p

By the way, I love your blog!!!

    1. hi BB!! thank you so much for visiting my blog! it means so much to me!

my husband is very set in his ways. i've bought him a few ties, and shirts for suits, but if there are funky stripes or colours, they get returned too. i once bought him a light pastel pink t-shirt. i think his brain exploded. your husband should totally let you get him some t-shirts - you have impeccable taste!

  3. Ooh, loving those gingham picks! Don't you love it when something like gingham is appropriate (and cute) on men, women and children?

Hehe, my husband has the same type of reaction. If I buy him something he doesn't like, back it goes. There's no "make it work" moment whatsoever. Makes me less motivated to shop for him :P

    1. i love how gingham can go across the board like that. our husbands are so alike. i had literally given up getting him anything until this conversation came up.

  5. I'm loving this! We have very little time to shop together and Mr.'s weekend wardrobe is mostly polos and shorts. But we are heading to the outlets in a few weeks because he is in desperate need of some new things! Can't wait to see part 2!

    1. we were lucky - our kids were in a class, and we ducked out to the mall while they were busy. shopping with kids is impossible! i hope you have a great shopping trip at the outlets - LOVE outlet shopping!! we don't have those premium outlets like you do in the US, but when i go there, it is one of the top 3 places i go to.
